   Was this addressed to only college students? If so, why? Why wouldn’t this be addressed to all people? If this is what Piper believes then it should be addressed to all people. I wonder how the retired people in his congregation would react?

   I know of plenty of retired people who do more with their lives than play golf and collect shells. At some point people lack the physical stamina and ability (not to mention people stop hiring them) for a career profession. Saving for retirement isn’t wrong, but choosing retirement over Jesus is. They don’t have to be on opposite ends of the spectrum.

     good questions dave. not sure how he would answer some of them, of course. but john gave this message to college students. i too would be interested to know if he’s taught on this in his church. i’m sure he would have the same conclusion (don’t waste your retirement on yourself), but i’m also fairly certain he would, for lack of better terms, ‘repackage’ the message.
