Origins

It’s not doubt that college-age people are taught an array of things about truth, origin of species, etc.  But, how do we deal with things like this?  What do you say?  How do you help your students think through this from a biblical perspective? Should we just say it’s wrong? Should we teach it can co-exist with Scriptural truth? Should we dive more into the worldview that serves as the foundation to differing conclusions?

I took an Astronomy class last semester, and I was talking about this with my brother. He asked me what I thought about the “Big Bang” theory and stuff, and I said that I thought that maybe when God created the Universe, it looked something like the theory explains it. He said that he believed that God put everything where it is now.
In our talking about it, we realized that it doesn’t really matter. The hope we have in Jesus Christ keeps us living one day at a time, and we don’t want to spend our time working out the kinks, or digging bigger holes, in Science. Enough about our past, lets focus on an eternal perspective. Everything we don’t know now, we will know one day.
I can totally see how this becomes a topic of discussion though. This is just how ours rolled out.
