Guy - have you ever blogged about Belmont Service Year? I'd love to hear the details / wins / tweaks... That's an awesome idea, and it seems like lots of college ministries could consider SOMETHING along those lines.

These kinds of communities can be so formational for students! Our campus (Belmont University) has something based off of the Mission Year model called the Belmont Service Year. All the elements are the same, but it is for current students... so some of the time commitments are altered to accommodate and academic load. It is by far one of the most powerful experiences students on our campus can commit to. And I know that there are a few other universities out there that do this as well.
